The book is awful. Poorly written doesnt go well with pictures. Its like a bad encyclopedia other than that was packaged fine arrived on time nothing wrong with it except its a complete waste a money and going in the next yardsale.
I love these series. But most important that my son does. I order 20+ books and he loves to read them (usually it is not that easy to make him read). I got mix of 2-3-4 levels for the second grader, second level is too easy, but it creates some fun and he reads them with pleasure. Love it, I would recommend it.
Dolphins! (Step into Reading, Step 3)Another good Step Into Reading book. Plenty of information at just the right level for my boy. This one is a little dated but it is still useful for children. I am glad they included the part about how fishermen kill dolphins when they catch tuna. It tells about how children became activists and campaigned to change fishing techniques by boycotting Tuna. This is the kind of thing kids need to hear about. It lets them know they can make an impact on the world.
I bought this for my son who has been struggling with reading. He loves animals and this book became one of his favorites. It has some fun facts about dolphins that are pretty simple to read. My son liked the pictures and learning more about dolphins. If your child is not really into learning about animals this is not for him/her. However, if your child has a passion for animals and learning about them this is a good fit and easy to read.
Daughter loved it. School gave her a choice of what to read and she learned much about dolphins. Hope that helps!
Grand kids (ages 7, 8, 9) are equally interested to hear and read the Step into Reading Non-fiction Animal books. (For the last 3 years) A plus for their appeal to parents and grandparents!
Bought this book for our grandson who has been earnestly reading since kindergarten. His teacher didn't know he culd read so well as he tends to be shy; this book interested him so much that he couldn't wait to read it aloud to the class. The teacher was astounded at his prowess & we're glad he is coming out of his shell by reading books that hold his interest...dolphins, dinosaurs, bring them on!
My son enjoyed this book and it was just right for his level. A little difficult, but not too hard that he couldn't get through it, and was able to learn from it. This one got him interested in the topic.
