This kind of book is interesting in many ways. It is, by no means, exciting, but it is very, very, VERY useful. The way Dr. O'Leary presents the information is very interesting and she makes what can be a tedious topic more managable. This also applies when she presents information that can be overwhleming for someone who is looking to do research in some way. I don't anyone will pick up this book for casual reading, but to prepare oneself for research it is a very good source.
This book is biggest reason I got through writing my graduate-level thesis. If you're enrolling in a Master's or PhD program, I'd highly recommend it. The thing they don't tell you when signing up for post-graduate education is that no one walks you through what a good or bad thesis topic/process is. You kind of have to figure it out for yourself. This is how I figured it out.Highest compliment I can give it is that I didn't sell it back to the bookstore after graduating, even though I have no conceivable need for it in the future.
Easy read, easy to use and to follow the guide.
My husband is doing his masters thesis and has had up until now little major research project experience. This book has been of huge help in giving him a variety of different directions and methods and is a wonderful adjunct text to assist with planning a research project from start to finish.
