What happened with Claire and Colton's parents? When did they die? What s the story with Trevor and his family or home life? Couldn't his dad have taken the baby? Colton is a big NFL star..is he really holding on to a 9 year old beef about some girl from high school? Why on God's name did Trevor allow his stalker to get so close? In the house, touch the kid? And...how can Trevor let his sons mother just take him after not seeing her for years? I had quite a few side eye moments reading this book...I enjoyed the book really..I just felt like there was some key details that could have enhanced the book more that were missing.

He thought he could come home to Ranford to heal from an injury as well as spend some much needed one on one time with his eight year old son Alfie who was having some aggression problems that Trevor chalked up to his being a working single father He also needed to get away from some unwanted attention.Coming back to his home town and living in his family home brought back some feelings he tried to forget over the years until he saw her. He had always had a thing for his best friend Colton Young's baby sister Claire but did not act on his feelings because of the bro code. He and Colton were the best of friends destined to football scholarships and on to the pros until something unthinkable happened, betrayal, that tore the best friends apart for years.After nine years, it was time to let the resentment go when the former friends found themselves home at the same time. In the meantime, Claire and Trevor are getting closer and closer and Claire believes her longtime dreams of being with Trevor are ffinally coming true, until she herself was betrayed by someone she thought was a new friend, but was a stalker. Just when Trevor and Claire get their act together again, Alfie's momma shows up throwing a bomb in their relationship and Claire is miserable and so is Trevor. All the time they hid their relationship from Colton, it turns out he knew they had a thing for each other back in the day and he did not explode when they came clean. Claire and Trevor had so many things in common. Both of them were single parents with Claire being widowed. Both of them ha eight year old sons whom they both adored and loved to death. But the baby momma situation was something Claire had a hard time with. Just finding out who she was sent her in a tailspin. Trevor knew he had to get her back in his life. He grew to love Claire and her son Remi and needed the stability she provided for he and Alfie. He came to understand that Alfie needed the gentle touch of Claire in his life just as much as he did. And Alfie and Remi were becoming the best of friends even though they had a rocky start with their friendship, just like Trevor and Colton. Trevor wanted to make them the perfect blended family, determined to have his HEA with Claire, Remi, and Aflie, and that's what he did.I enjoyed reading this story and was pulling for Claire and Trevor to get their act together and just hated to see all of the headaches they had to go through. But that rocky road made them all closer for it.

Great book. Loved Trevor, Claire and Colton’s strong characters. Trevor willing to admit his wrongs and grow up; Colton willing to forgive Trevor...maybe realizing that Trevor did him a favor because Petra was a player too; Claire was a strong woman, although admittedly she grew to love her husband, Luke, but was not in love with him because her heart had always belonged to Trevor, she lived her life in conflict of her brother wronged by his best friend and her love for her brothers best friend.Alfie needed more attention from Trevor and a mother’s influence in his life and the good influence of Remi.

Sorta cute storyline. But it isn’t the best I have read of hers. Petty reasons to hold such a grudge for so long. Claire praised for handling motherhood at a early age but ran off and cried way too much every time a bump in the road came along.And how alone are you to just tell all of your business to a complete stranger? Trevor unable to stop one women to enter his home? Gets ahold of his son😳 Just wasn’t the best.

really enjoyed this book. I thought it was going to be just a cute little second chance book, but it was MUCH more. It was very complicated and had several heartbreaking stories. Including the break up of two best friends who were more like brothers. This was one of Niya James best books

Trevor was young and dumb he let the wrong head rule him and he payed for it, but he found forgiveness with claire

I'm giving a voluntary review as an ARC reviewer. Claire & Tervon share a common thread, her brother Colton. Who is Tervor's best friend. As teenagers both have feeling for each other but neither seem to pick up on it. Then teenage mistakes and alcohol destroys the bond Colton and Trevor have. Causing a 10 year divide between the brother & sister with Tervor. He went off to college, found out her was a teen father, made the NFL, and is now returning home with an injury that needs rehab. Claire became a teen mom, got married, and later became a nurse. Now they have sons the same age and the feelings between them seem to come back to the forefront like time was never between them. Only Claire still has to think of her brother and his hurt feelings. Colton is also an NFL star and is home to help his sister now that she's a widow. But Claire not sure if Tervor would see her as anything more than Colton's lil sister. Once they start seeing and interacting with one another the chemistry is so obvious. However Colton's anger, the lack of communication & omissions about events in the three of their lives will cause problems seemingly at every turn. But after Claire mediates, Colton finally listens to Tervor and the past is laid to rest. Only Tervor's stalker and Alfie's mom will bring more unwanted drama than Claire can handle. But with persistence & love Tervor is determined to win Claire back.
